Monkey Business at the Nedbank Challenge

Here's video of a troop of baboons on the golf course during the 2012 Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa. It includes a little baby, plus one big fella who helps himself to some people food: The cameraman is a little too close for comfort - if not for his own, then for mine. Baboons can be great fun to watch from a distance - but they can also be very violent. With each other, or with other animals, including humans. They have massive canines and powerful jaws. You do not want to get close to one.

Michael Jordan Banned in Dress Code Dispute? Good!

So the New York Post broke the "story" that Michael Jordan's cargo pants got him into trouble with a fancy-shmancy golf club in Miami. And Jordan is now banned from that club. To which I say: Good! But not because I have anything against Jordan. Let me explain. The story goes like this: Jordan showed up to play as a guest of a member at La Gorce Country Club in Miami. And he showed up wearing cargo shorts. The exclusive private club has a dress code, naturally, and that dress code excludes cargo shorts. Collared shirt and Bermuda shorts, please (slacks probably preferred). This certainly goes without saying, right? That a luxury, high-class club wouldn't want its golfers in cargo shorts? Jordan should have known he was pushing it. Maybe he did. Maybe he figured it wouldn't matter. He's Michael Jordan, after all. Or maybe it was simply an honest oversight on his part. Regardless, Jordan got through the gates and onto the course before anyone with the c

The Long and Short of It: Rickie, Michelle and Jessica

Here's tweet from Rickie Fowler: I used to think I was tall...then @ themichellewie and @ jessicakorda came along... — Rickie Fowler (@RickieFowlerPGA) November 21, 2012 And the photo? This one: (Photo by @RickieFowlerPGA/Twitter) Rickie Fowler has never thought of himself as tall (that's the joke). He is a little guy. Not just short, but little. Look at him next to Jessica Korda (5-foot-11) and Michelle Wie (6-foot-1). One thing that first-time attendees at PGA Tour events are often surprised by is how short, or how slight, some of the tour's big hitters are. But that's a historical thing - I recall reading comments from later generations of pro golfers about their reaction to first meeting the 5-foot-10 Jack Nicklaus: "He was shorter than I thought he'd be," along those lines. These guys are huge on TV and in our imaginations. But in real life they are - in terms of physical stature, definitely not in terms of abilit

The Answer is No

Bubba Watson (who else?) posted this photo on Twitter: Bubba's accompanying tweet: Does this match? #BubbaGolf — bubba watson (@bubbawatson) November 26, 2012 The answer is "no." But this photo, by the way, also explains why men's pro golf tours don't let the guys wear shorts.

Padraig Harrington Almost Ready to Join Village People

Check out that "Movember" mustache that Padraig Harrington is working on: (Photo by @IMGgolf/Twitter) Maybe he'll shave it off at the end of the month. But I hope he keeps going. Because he's almost ready to step in for the Biker Guy in the Village People:

Rory McIlroy As You've Never Seen Him

Topless. This photo of Rory McIlroy napping while laying out on a beach was posted to Twitter by his girlfriend, Caroline Wozniacki. Who tweeted that it was revenge for an image of her sleeping that Rors had posted. Ahhhhh, young love. And Luke Donald had a funny reaction ... well, here, I'll just show you: Shaved armpits??
