Boot Scootin': Lambda Golf Boots

That's a photo Anna Rawson (@TheAnnaRawson) posted to Twitter. She can't play golf in those boots, right? Wrong! Because they are golf boots.

That's right, golf boots. They are made by a company called Lambda Classic Golf Shoes, not surprisingly a European company. Lambda describes its shoes, I mean boots, this way:

"Classic hand Made in Europe, waterproof golf boot and sole. ... European water repellent prime leather upper, Aquastop inlay breathable membrane ensures waterproof guarantee. ... Detachable soft Latex foot bed, covered in leather, for extra comfort. ... Ethylene-vinyl acetate insert on sole and heel for shock absorption impact on knees, hips and back. ... Soft spikes in TPU, Stinger Cleats (from Champ) or Proflex Cleats (from Trisport). ... We guarantee the best classic golf shoe ever built."

The women's version - called the Latina - is pictured here; as you can see, it is roughly knee-high. The men's boot is called Milano and only goes up just past the ankle; more of a high-top than a boot. But that might just be cross-cultural semantics.

Any ladies out there want to comment on whether you'd be willing to play golf wearing these golf boots? Doesn't seem like it'd be all that comfortable to me. But maybe I'd feel differently if I were a crossdresser.

Urban Legend: Mrs. Palmer on 'The Tonight Show'

Is an urban legend about golf actually a suburban legend? There's a story that's told about Arnold Palmer's wife appearing on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson . This would be Winnie Palmer, and the time was the late '60s. According to this legend, the following snippet was part of the conversation between Winnie and Johnny: Johnny: Do you do anything for Arnold before a tournament as a sort of good-luck charm or superstition? Mrs. Palmer: I kiss his balls. Johnny: Well ... I bet that makes his putter flutter. I've heard many people tell this story. Even had one friend who insisted that he watched it in real time. But there are a couple problems with the story. First, why would Carson have Arnold Palmer's wife on the show? Winnie Palmer was not herself famous. To this day, type "Amy Mickelson" into the Google search field and Google will try to autocomplete your query to "Amy Mickelson Michael Jordan" or "Amy Mickelson Michael Jordan rumor" or "Amy Mickelson Michael Jordan affair."
